Hawke’s Bay Hospital is looking for an additional Specialist in Intensive Care Medicine to join our team of 5 consultants and 6 registrars. With 400 beds and all major specialties represented on-site except Neurosurgery, Plastic Surgery and Cardiothoracics, Hawke’s Bay Hospital is one of the largest provincial hospitals in New Zealand. 

The Hawke’s Bay is on the east coast of the North Island and is world renown for the abundance of vineyards and orchards in the region.  With a climate suitable for outdoor living, there a many pursuits available to the adventurous, as well as a well catered for relaxing lifestyle should that be your preference. With golden sand beaches along the coastline for the summer, and snow capped mountains only 2 hours away for winter, there is something for everyone all year round.

Working within our 11 Bed Level II Intensive Care Unit the successful applicant will be providing clinical expertise and leadership in the provision of intensive care medicine across the hospital and community. They will also be able to demonstrate good clinical leadership and direction with a commitment to continuous quality improvements.

Suitable applicants will hold either hold or be eligible for Vocational registration in Intensive Care Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand, with  appropriate qualifications in Intensive Care Medicine (FJFICM or equivalent) as well as significant experience in this field.

The Hawke’s Bay Helicopter Trust operates both a primary retrieval and inter-hospital transfer service from the hospital. There are opportunities to become involved with this service for suitable applicants.

This is a full time permanent position based at Hawke’s Bay Hospital, Hastings, New Zealand.
